Summary
An international ice hockey governing body holds press interviews and conferences where Russian- and English-speaking participants need to understand each other in real time. Without translation, sessions were prone to language barriers and communication breakdowns whenever a counterpart spoke no English. The federation now uses KUDO for live, simultaneous Russian-English interpretation, one to three times a year, ensuring every participant follows the conversation as it happens.
The Challenge
Press interviews and conferences involving Russian- and English-speaking participants had no real-time translation in place. When a counterpart spoke no English, the language barrier led directly to communication breakdowns during the session.
The federation needed:
- Real-time understanding for both Russian- and English-speaking participants
- A way to prevent communication breakdowns during press interviews and conferences
- A solution better suited to live interpretation than its existing Zoom setup

The Solution
KUDO provides live interpretation for both parties simultaneously during the federation’s Russian-English press interviews and conferences, replacing the language barrier that previously caused communication breakdowns. The federation continues to use Zoom alongside KUDO and is exploring additional AI solutions to further enhance its communication capabilities.
