Summary
A global consumer audio and electronics company has an above-average concentration of employees in Japan and China, and those employees needed language support to follow company town halls and internal meetings. KUDO delivers that support through its Mobile Link solution — end users scan a QR code to access interpretation — a workaround built specifically because the company’s meeting broadcasts don’t run through KUDO’s standard platform integration. That same Mobile Link approach has carried the company through a platform change, from Microsoft Teams Live to Webex following a corporate merger, without disrupting how employees access interpretation. Depending on the importance of the meeting and the organizer’s preference, sessions are covered by either KUDO AI or professional human interpreters.
The Challenge
With an above-average employee base in Japan and China, the company needed reliable interpretation coverage for its town halls and internal meetings — delivered with seamless execution and quick turnaround.
Complicating this, the company broadcasts these meetings through Microsoft Teams Live, a format that doesn’t work with KUDO’s standard Teams integration. The company needed:
- Language interpretation support (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and others, varying by meeting) for its Japan- and China-based employees
- A way to deliver interpretation into a Teams Live broadcast that standard platform integrations couldn’t support
- Flexibility to use either AI or human interpretation depending on the importance of a given meeting and the organizer’s level of care
- A solution resilient enough to carry over after the company moved its meetings to Webex following a corporate merger

The Solution
Because the company’s meetings run through Teams Live — a format outside KUDO’s standard Teams integration — KUDO manually captures the live feed and routes it through its Mobile Link solution. Employees who need interpretation simply scan a QR code to connect. This gives the company’s Japan- and China-based workforce reliable access to town hall and meeting interpretation without requiring a native platform integration.
For each meeting, KUDO’s client management team helps determine whether AI or human interpretation is the better fit, weighing the importance of the meeting and the organizer’s own level of care. When the company later moved its meetings to Webex after a corporate merger, the Mobile Link setup carried over without disruption — the same QR-code access worked regardless of which platform the meeting was broadcast on.
