Summary

In August 2024, KUDO played a pivotal role in enhancing accessibility at the 25th edition of the World Congress of Philosophy, held at the Università di Roma La Sapienza in Rome. As one of the most prestigious gatherings of philosophers from around the world, this event, organized by Triumph Group, featured a range of discussions on philosophical thought, ethics, and contemporary global challenges.

To ensure that participants from diverse linguistic backgrounds could fully engage, KUDO provided real-time AI speech translation in seven languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and Chinese.

The Challenge

Triumph Group International is a global leader in event management, offering comprehensive services for organizing high-profile events across various industries. With a strong presence in Europe and beyond, the company specializes in creating tailored experiences for conferences, corporate events, and large-scale gatherings. Given the global nature of their work, language accessibility through the provision of live speech translation and captions is a key requirement for their events.

Before using KUDO, Triumph Group struggled with the high set-up costs for conventional on-site simultaneous interpretation systems, and with finding venues that were big enough to host booths for human interpreters. By using KUDO AI as an alternative, all that was needed on-site at the World Congress of Philosophy was a laptop and a USB audio interface to run the live speech translation and captions in multiple languages. Attendees could scan a QR code to access the live translation and captions from their smartphones or follow the captions that were projected on the stage during the sessions.

Services Provided

Live translation and captions in 7 languages

Simple scan-to-access for attendees

On-stage screen projection of captions

Smartphone-accessible translation

We chose KUDO because we didn’t have enough space at the venue to set up a physical translation system in seven languages, and we generally wanted to experience a new and more modern language accessibility system.

The Solution

With years of hands-on experience supporting large-scale international events and conferences, KUDO was the ideal partner for this congress. The combination of multilingual and technical support throughout enabled attendees to follow complex presentations and contribute to discussions in the language of their choice, fostering deeper engagement and more inclusive dialogue.

The simplicity in setting up and accessing KUDO AI Speech Translator on-site was a key factor in making the coverage of language accessibility scalable for attendees, which in turn created a truly global intellectual exchange, allowing philosophers from different cultures to share insights and ideas without the barrier of language.
