(Wednesday 27 November. New York City, NY) – With an increasing number of venues requesting to project closed captions or subtitles for the whole audience, the KUDO team has added customizable display options that allow event organizers to tailor the size and format of the captions for any screen size. This means that in addition to offering attendees a scan-to-access QR code for their individual devices, closed captions or subtitles can also be projected at the front, sides, or back of the room for everyone to follow, on any screen size.
Since launching KUDO AI in 2023, the use cases for AI speech translation at KUDO have expanded beyond traditional boardrooms and conference rooms to new in-person or hybrid verticals. The scalability of languages and 24/7 on-demand nature of AI-powered translation and captions have allowed language accessibility to spread to verticals like houses of worship, city councils, and higher education, where organizers seek provisions for recurring meetings or events. This has prompted the KUDO team to make a range of product enhancements focusing on the on-site experience of accessing translated speech and captions.

In this latest upgrade of display options on the KUDO Platform, meeting or event organizers can project and re-size closed captions and/or subtitles on any screen size, even when the positioning needs are for a small horizontal widget. Display options include various UI choices with different colors, fonts, and font sizes to adapt the experience to the surrounding space, whether it’s a small council chamber with natural daylight or a dark university lecture theater.
The set-up of captions or subtitles on-site is as easy as connecting the device that is hosting the KUDO session to the video projector or TV screens on which you want the text to appear. Organizers can now host:
- Captions in one language only, for example, English, for the hearing impaired. This provides the added benefit of offering an assistive listening solution.
- Captions in two languages side by side, or with different languages being displayed on different screens simultaneously.
- Captions that can be moved to fit and appear around other content like presentation slides, images, and videos.
These updates reflect KUDO’s continuous effort to boost accessibility – in this case, ensuring that participants without any device or internet connection can access captions or subtitles on-site. Stay tuned for further product enhancements to KUDO’s language accessibility solutions in December.
