Summary
Stryker is a global medical technology company that brings together healthcare professionals, partners, and customers through international training programs, conferences, and events.
During a European conference in Amsterdam, Stryker unexpectedly identified a group of Polish-speaking attendees who were struggling to fully participate in English-language sessions. With no interpretation services planned in advance, the team needed an immediate, scalable solution that could be deployed without disrupting the event experience.
The Challenge
Stryker was hosting a three-day European conference in Amsterdam with multiple breakout sessions and an international audience. Initially, the organization expected attendees to be fluent in English, so multilingual support had not been planned.
However, after the first day of the event, the team identified several Polish-speaking participants who were struggling to fully engage with presentations and discussions. This created several immediate challenges:
- Unplanned language barriers: Important sessions were only being delivered in English, limiting participation for some attendees.
- No advance interpretation setup: Traditional interpretation workflows typically require significant preparation, scheduling, and technical coordination—none of which had been arranged before the event began.
- Time-sensitive deployment: The solution needed to be implemented overnight in order to support the remaining two days of the conference.
- Maintaining engagement across breakout sessions: Attendees needed a simple way to follow presentations, ask questions, and participate naturally without disrupting the session flow.
- Minimizing operational disruption: The event team required a solution that could be activated quickly without changing presenters’ workflows or introducing complex hardware requirements.
Stryker needed a fast, reliable multilingual solution that could be deployed immediately while maintaining a seamless attendee experience.
